LOBBY7 Joins Industry Leaders in SALT Forum
Membership in the Multimodal Consortium to Boost Development of x|mode Platform

BOSTON, Mass. – January 31, 2002 – LOBBY7, Inc., a leader in multimodal technology, today announced that it has joined the SALT Forum, a consortium of companies that share a goal to accelerate the use of speech in multimodal and telephony systems, founded in 2001 by Cisco, Comverse, Intel, Microsoft, Philips and SpeechWorks. As a member of the group, LOBBY7 will contribute its experience toward the formulation of a specification for the Speech Application Language Tags (SALT), a markup language for the development and deployment of multimodal applications.

"The SALT Forum is extremely pleased to have LOBBY7, one of the pioneers in the multimodal space, join the consortium as a Contributor," said James Mastan, Chairman of the SALT Marketing Working Group. "Their early market presence and leading-edge expertise will bring tremendous value to the development of the initial SALT specifications and fuel rapid commercial adoption of multimodal technology."

"The establishment of the SALT Forum is a defining step towards wide-scale adoption of multimodal user interfaces," said Mykolas Rambus, President of LOBBY7. "LOBBY7's membership in this select group will provide our customers crucial access to industry-wide multimodal thinking and allow LOBBY7 to continue its market leadership in the development of new human-computer interaction paradigms."

LOBBY7 plans to incorporate SALT support into future releases of its x|mode platform, the industry's first multimodal application server. The x|mode product line is composed of two products: x|mode Network Server and x|mode Embedded Server, which together address any multimodal need in wireless, wire-line or disconnected environments. Based on industry standards, x|mode enables a new genre of applications that allow users to blend "modalities" (speech, graphics, touch) when interacting with a wide variety of information appliances and systems. Users can request information by voice, receive instantaneous visual feedback, interact with stylus or keypad, or mix any input/output combination based on the task or need at hand.

About LOBBY7
